Commissioning Dale to capture the strength and resilience of the USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG-58) was by far the right choice. Dale is very easy to work with. He provides well thought out suggestions on how to best present the ship on canvas, provides wonderful progress pictures and can makes changes very quickly if desired. Every one of my shipmates who purchased a print were thrilled with the end product! I highly recommend Dale if you are considering commissioning a painting of your ship. You won't be disappointed. I thought I would write to let you know that I have just brought home our painting, framed! As excited as I was to receive our painting, it it even more so, to see the total effect when it is in its frame. To think this all started when after admiring some of your work on naval websites, I went to your website and learned that I could commission a painting. No one is going to do a painting of an my old replenishment ship, which after being decommissioned and used for target practice, rests on the bottom of the Pacific; so, I decided to take the plunge. I will always refer to this as our painting, because a successful commission, is a true collaboration. I had a clear idea of what I wanted, but through your experience and skill, we made adjustments that truly enhanced the composition. No I can now admire this unique painting of my first US naval ship as a young naval officer. - Stephen Hazam |
I just received my print of "The Battle of Brandon Bay" and I could not be happier! I was a crew member of the USS McCaffery at the time of that battle and I am proud to own one of your prints that depicted it.
Thank you for your dedication to naval art. - Frank Alexander |
Thank you again for the work you do, contrary to what many may think, of all the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who were there, most all I think cherish the memories of those times with their Brothers and Sisters. This is not meant to be a political statement Dale, but just a note to you personally to let you know when we look at your work, we remember the good more than the bad and relive our youth if only for a moment. -Danny Fowler Senior Chief Petty Officer U.S. Navy (Retired) |
Thank you so much for your reply and very impressive background information. I am even more excited than before to get my print. I am in my 40th year of service as an administrative assistant at our County Veterans Service Office. I plan to have the print framed professionally and will display it in my office until I retire in a couple of years, at which time I will dearly appreciate it in my home. I know our office clientele, especially our Navy veterans, will enjoy seeing it; and it will generate much discussion. There are two other USS Cochrane veterans (Smith brothers) living in our county that I am aware of, and I look forward to showing it to them.
Again, thank you for taking the time to visit with me. When I sent an inquiry to your website, I never expected to get a reply from the artist himself. - Rita Morris |
Mr. Byhre’s wonderful approach to the integration of a customer’s vision onto a final canvas production was nothing short of superlative. He handled our commissioned work professionally, and ensured that we ended up with the painting that we had in mind at the outset of accepting our painting task. The result was a masterfull piece of artwork that we will forever be the proud owners of”. As we say in the Navy, Dale…Bravo Zulu! Well done!” -W.Mike Smith Former Shipmate & Lifetime Member - USS Sterett Association |
Dale did the painting for HMCS VILLE DE QUEBEC's Christmas card and was a pleasure to work with. Very happy with his work and would recommend him to anyone! -Evan Thomas |
Being involved with PT BOATS of WWII for many years and owning and operating The Mosquito Fleet Exhibit I believe that Dale really captures the Beauty of the boats in his work. His wonderful painting of PT-10 in front of the Elco building that he did for my Exhibit is a true work of art, one that I can be proud to use in any venue. -Frank Andruss |
